What is IELTS?

IELTS, the International English Language Testing System, is designed to assess the language ability of people who need to study or work where English is the language of communication. IELTS is jointly owned by the British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia and Cambridge English Language Assessment. IELTS conforms to the highest international standards of language assessment. It covers the four language skills - listening, reading, writing and speaking.

IELTS is recognised by universities and employers in many countries, including Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the UK and the USA. It is also recognised by professional bodies, immigration authorities and other government agencies. Over 2.7 million IELTS tests were taken in 2015. There are more than 1,100 international IELTS test locations in over 140 countries. More than 9000 international organisations accept IELTS results. These include universities, colleges, professional registration bodies, employers and governments. Please see www.ielts.org for more information.

PIBT is an official testing agency and offers IELTS tests on ECU's Mt Lawley and Joondalup campuses.
