Orientation

Orientation is the beginning of your journey at PIBT, and a fun way to enrol in your new course, meet new students from all over the world, and to obtain the information and assistance you need to help in your transition to studies at PIBT.

What will happen at Orientation?

PIBT arranges a range of activities over a series of days, which will guide you on your way to successful studies.

  • You will learn about your chosen PIBT course and receive an Orientation kit on your first day at PIBT
  • Meet with our friendly PIBT staff, student leaders and new friends
  • Be introduced to a range of services and facilities that will be available to you as a student

There will also be information sessions about student support services available, on-campus and off-campus accommodation options, information about living in Perth, safety, health, coverage and computer skills all designed to help you settle in to your new environment.

Most importantly Orientation ensures that you are enrolled and organised before you officially start your classes - you will create your timetable, purchase the textbooks you need, and obtain your PIBT Student ID Card.

Students are also required to attend an Academic Advantage workshop during the Orientation sessions. The workshop will enhance students’ study skills and introduce them to the academic skills required to be successful in their studies.

Attendance at this workshop demonstrates a student’s willingness to improve their academic performance and is taken into consideration should a student encounter academic difficulties and be placed on conditional status.

The workshops are compulsory and will provide support and guidance to students on areas
such as:

  1. Assignment writing
  2. Time management
  3. Referencing
  4. Database research
  5. Links to support programs

Students will be advised at Orientation the session times and days to attend.
