Perth has one of the lowest costs of living in Australia. The main reason is due to the low rents on offer for good quality rental accommodation within easy access of Perth city and other facilities.

PIBT estimates that a single international student in Perth requires a approximately AUD$10,000 to cover living expenses in each year of study (click here for currency conversion rates).

Students should also have a minimum of AUD$1,800 when they arrive to cover the initial cost of books and establishment expenses such as (accommodation) rental bond payment, and basic furniture items.

Costs would normally include:

· Accommodation
· Clothing
· Transport
· Food
· Entertainment

Students should also budget on approximately $400/semester for text books/stationary, although some money may be saved by purchasing second-hand books at Orientation or through advertisements placed on notice boards around campus.

Costs do not include airfares or additional costs for those with a more expensive lifestyle.

Recreation and entertainment are matters of personal taste: the amount spent depends on your interests, budget and where you live. The estimated costs given do not include the costs of large nonessential items such as household equipment or a car.

Perth has an extensive public transport system of buses and trains, and PIBT is well serviced with public transport, with numerous bus routes passing the campus from the city and many suburbs.

Students are also eligible for travel concessions on buses and trains, and for discount tickets at movies, sporting events. etc.

Owning and maintaining a motor vehicle can be expensive in Australia, as is frequent travel by taxis.
