Diploma of Business 

The Diploma of Business provides students with an overall perspective of business and the acquisition of fundamental skills, which are essential for their course and career.

The Diploma of Business course consists of the same units and structure that makes up the first year of the Bachelor of Business or Bachelor of Marketing, Advertising and PR course offered by ECU. Students study 8 units chosen from the area or areas of specialisation within the degree. On successful completion of 8 units of study, students may articulate into the ECU Bachelor of Business or Bachelor of Marketing, Advertising and PR.

ECU’s Business Edge Program incorporates greater emphasis on generic skills and provides students with the competencies valued by employers.

Diploma of Hotel Management

Diploma of Hotel Management graduates will be suitably equipped to work in commercial enterprises under supervision, in positions that require skills gained in their Diploma.  These will include a general knowledge of all the subject areas they have studied. The Diploma leads into 2nd year of the Bachelor of Hospitality Management at ECU, winner of the Western Australian Tourism Award and the Number One provider of tourism education in WA.    

As part of the Bachelors degree, ECU provides state of the art facilities including the Degrees Brewery Restaurant, a purpose-built teaching restaurant on the Joondalup campus.  Managed and operated by students as a training facility, it offers a ‘real world’ simulation in which students can put into practice the theory taught in the program.

Diploma of Computing & IT

The Diploma of Computing & IT introduces students to the discipline areas of Computer Science, Games Programming, Software Engineering, Internet Technology, Computer Security, Information Technology and other emerging areas. It allows the flexibility to choose between three Degree courses at the completion of the Diploma program.

The Diploma consists of the same units and structure that make up the first year of the degree course offered by ECU. PIBT takes the responsibility for teaching the units and ECU sets and moderates the examinations. On completion of this Diploma, students can articulate into ECU's Bachelor of Computer Science or Bachelor of Information Technology or Bachelor of Computer and Network Security.

Diploma of Communications

The Diploma of Communications focuses on both theoretical and practical dimensions of communication. It provides introductory level units where students are able to gain perspective of communications and acquire fundamental skills, which are essential for their course and career. The Diploma program consists of the same units and structure as the first year of the Bachelor of Communications course offered by ECU. PIBT takes responsibility for teaching the units and ECU sets and moderates examinations.

Upon transfer to ECU, students may choose from many areas of specialisation within the Bachelor of Communications, the Bachelor of Creative Industries or the Bachelor of Contemporary Arts. Single majors may also be chosen from within the School of Communications and Arts (SCA).

Diploma of Science (Health Studies)

The Diploma of Science (Health Studies) will introduce you to the biological, social and cultural elements involved in health care.  It is specially designed for students wishing to major in Nursing, Biomedical Science and Psychology.

This program is delivered by PIBT at the ECU Mt Lawley campus.  Students may start studies in February, June or October.

Diploma & Mixed English Program

The Mixed English Program allows students who do not satisfy the English Language requirement to participate in a special program of English with 1 or 2 academic units in the first semester.

This allows students to combine the learning of English language and support skills with a gradual introduction to academic subjects credited towards a Diploma in Business, Computing and IT or Communications. These classes develop the students’ interaction in both spoken and written forms in order to improve their techniques and to increase their confidence.
