Student
If you are under the age of 18 years, you are a ‘minor’ and as such a student visa can only be granted if you have met the immigration Law of the Student Visa Regulations.

This means that if you are:

1. under 18 years and
2. are not accompanied by a parent/guardian or
3. are not staying with a relative aged at least 21 or above or
4. are not staying with a person at least 21 years of age who is nominated by a parent/guardian then:

Appropriate arrangements must be made with respect to your accommodation, ensuring sufficient support for your personal welfare during your stay in Australia or until you reach the age of 18 years.

PIBT recommends that you stay in a 'Homestay' accommodation if you are under 18 years of age. If you intend staying with friends or relatives (other than your family), then you must obtain permission from your parents and the college. In addition, the person you are staying with, must be above 21 years of age and must agree to act as your guardian/local carer.

PIBT offers support and counselling to all students through its Student Counsellor and will liaise with parents regarding the welfare of younger students.
