Phonetics - The sounds of spoken language

This is an interactive pronunciation website demonstrating how consonants and vowels are produced. If you click on play the animated diagrams show the position of the tongue when various sounds are made. On the right side, you can click on some English words containing the sound to hear and see it being produced. This is an interesting website that may help learners who are having problems producing particular sounds.

The New Okanagan College English Pronunciation

This is a Canadian website with 13 units consisting of various pronunciation exercises including activities on minimal pairs and dictations. Each lesson can also be downloaded in PDF format. 

American English Pronunciation Practice

This site contains a list of minimal pairs quiz, with a particular focus on vowel sounds. The site is not particularly sophisticated but it is straightforward and shouldn’t cause any problems for students (or teachers).

Ship or Sheep: Minimal Pair Pronunciation Practice

As the title suggests, this website contains minimal pair recordings that students can listen to simply by moving their mouse over the word.

Learning English - Pronunciation Tips

This link is part of the BBC Learning English section. The interactive phonemic chart allows you to hear phonemes by clicking on the phonemic symbol. On the right there are more links to minimal pair practice. You can listen to the sounds and then complete minimal pair recognition exercises at the end of each unit. There are also some worksheets on the schwa and connected speech. 

Hong Kong Polytechnic University - Pronunciation Page

This contains several pronunciation exercises  as well as links to external websites. There is a special focus on the phonemic script.

English Media Lab - Pronunciation

This site has interactive exercises which help English learners to improve their pronunciation. There are also exercises which test their knowledge of phonemic script.

English Tower - Pronunciation

This website contains links to many interactive quizzes to help improve pronunciation as well as recognition of phonemic script.
