Exemptions/RPL
Students with recognised tertiary studies may be eligible for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) (also called exemptions). Exemptions are granted on the basis of prior learning (formal or informal) where that learning is assessed as equivalent to the learning outcomes or competencies of one or more PIBT units. Exemption (also called Unit Credit) releases a student from having to undertake one or more units within his/her course. PIBT may give RPL to students who have completed an equivalent course of study at another recognised educational institution or university. You can apply for an RPL when you submit your application. All Applications for Exemptions must be submitted before Week 4 of the semester. Applications received after Week 4 will be processed but will not qualify for a fee refund if the student is already enrolled in that unit. Exemptions for Diploma level units are subject to approval from ECU.
Applications for RPL must be lodged with the appropriate evidence including:
- a completed Recognition of Prior Learning form
- Certified copies of academic transcripts and/or qualifications with approved English language translations (if applicable)
- Copies of unit outlines describing detailed contents of learning outcomes, assessments and other course materials. Such evidence must demonstrate equivalent academic rigour (quality, time frame, depth of study and content)
- Any other evidence demonstrating that your experience, skills, knowledge and qualifications meet the academic rigour required under the respective AQF standards.
- Proof of minimum level of English competency matching relevant course entry guidelines.
